<p>A sealing or an anti-extrusion component for a downhole tool made of a composition comprising a polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) or a derivative of polyetherketoneketone. The sealing or anti-extrusion component may be formed in the shape of, for example, an o-ring (13), v-ring (14, 15), u-cup, valve seat, chevron back-up rings, downhole packing element, or other sealing parts. The PEKK compositions are particularly useful because of their physical and chemical properties, including a high melting point and glass transition temperature, a wide range of crystallinity and good resistance to chemical attack. The sealing and anti-extrusion components are formed by conventional processes including extrusion, injection molding, flash molding, pressure molding, transfer injection stretch molding, compression molding, and/or casting.</p> |
