The gasbag (1) has at least two sectors joined by a seam, and a sealing element (3) to seal the seam. The gas is inflated when necessary by gas from a gas generator. The sealing element has a separate sector (30) projecting into the gasbag. When inflation occurs, this sector is pressed to the inside of the gasbag, at least partly covering the seam.
