The miniaturization of a conventional fuel cell enough to mount on a mobile device is difficult only by just an analogous scale-down. A semiconductor process of this invention provides a small-sized fuel cell comprising a high-polymer electrolyte thin film. A high-polymer electrolyte type thin film fuel cell of this invention comprises a substrate having openings, an electrolyte film-electrode coupling consisting of a first catalyst electrode layer, a hydrogen ion conductive high-polymer electrolyte film, and a second catalyst electrode layer, which are successively formed over the substrate so as to coat each opening, and a fuel/oxidizer supply means for supplying a fuel and an oxidizer gas through the openings to the first catalyst electrode layer and the oxidizer gas or the fuel to the second catalyst electrode layer. |
