<p>A liquid crystalline ion conductor in which a liquid crystalline molecule is complexed with an organic molten salt; and a method for preparing the liquid crystalline ion conductor which comprises mixing an organic molten salt with liquid crystalline organic molecules or liquid crystalline inorganic molecules which have a moiety compatible with the salt and a moiety exhibiting liquid crystal orientation. The liquid crystalline ion conductor is useful as a reaction medium, an ion conductor, a conductor responsible to an electric field, or the like, which has an anisotropic property, for use in electric, electronic, chemical, bioengineering applications and the like.</p> |
