NONUNIFORM PRESSURE BONDING METHOD

A method is described which utilizes an elastic body of curved surface area to bond large area slabs to substrates. The bonding agent is applied to the interface between the slab and substrate and enough pressure is applied to the complaint body to flatten it out over the entire area of the slab. A pressure gradient will result along the interface which will force the bonding agent to flow toward the edges of the slab. An extremely thin, highly uniform bond is therefore achieved.
