The power branching gear has a stagelessly adjustable power branch and a mechanical power branch with at least two movement areas. When a movement area change takes place, a first switch device for a first movement area synchronously rotates with a second switch device for a second movement area. The switch devices have claw couplings (1), which are closed by an operating mechanism and opened by spring force. The claw coupling comprises first and secondn toothed disks (2,3), which are operable in a closing direction by an operating device and opened with a spring (4). The flank angle (5) is therefore such, that with the claw coupling closed and with applied torque and the operating device not functioning in the direction of closure, the claw coupling remains closed, since the friction forces between the flanks (6) are greater than the force of the spring. The flanks can be without flank angle or with a negative flank angle.
