Foaming toning shampoo (I), comprises (wt.%): (1) an aqueous base comprising: (1) nonionic surfactant(s) (2.5-25); (2) amphoteric and/or zwitterionic surfactant(s) (1-5); and (3) direct hair dye(s) (0.001-5) (all based on the overall composition), is free of anionic surfactants of the sulfate and sulfonate type and is supplied in a container provided with a manual pump device.
