Molded articles having internally coated cavities are prepared by forming template fibers having a diameter of 10 nm - 50 micro m from two materials, where the fibers are coated with at least one third material and/or in which a third material is embedded followed by selective removal of the first material. Molded articles (I) having internally coated cavities are prepared by mixing a first material (A) in solution with at least one second material (B) in which (A) is a suspension or soluble in, and further processing to form template fibers having a diameter of 10 nm - 50 micro m. The fibers are coated with at least one third material (C) and/or in which a third material (C) is embedded. A subsequent step results in the selective removal of the first material (A), where the second material (B) is at least partially immobilized either before or during the removal of (A), such that an inner layer of (B) and/or by a modification of (B) is formed in cavities in the third material (C) resulting from the removal of (A).
