A process for producing a thiazolylalkanenitrile useful as an intermediate for agricultural chemicals, medicines, etc., especially as an intermediate for insecticides or acaricides, characterized by reacting a 2-halogenothiazole compound represented by the formula (1) with a nitrile compound represented by the formula (2) in the presence of a base. (In the formulae, R1 represents halogeno, C1-6 alkyl, etc.; n is an integer of 0 to 5; X represents halogeno; and R2 and R3 each independently represents hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, etc.)
