Invention relates to preparing polyvinyl alcohol-base composite cryogels of a homogeneous structure with improved physical-chemical properties and expanding assortment of hydrophobic filling agents that can be added to the composition of polyvinyl alcohol-base composite cryogels. The composition of the parent composite for preparing the end product by the claimed decision involves, wt.%: polyvinyl alcohol, 6-26; hydrophobic filling agent, 3-33; dimethylsulfoxide as a solvent, 55-90. A filling agent is added to a mixture dimethylformamide/solution of polyvinyl alcohol as a dried form. Then the prepared suspension is frozen at (-15)-(-30) C, kept in frozen state for 1-24 h and thawed and then the prepared composite cryogel is washed out with water for change of dimethylsulfoxide for an aqueous medium. The claimed materials can be used in biotechnology as chromatography or adsorption matrices and in medicinal practice, for example, as hemosorbent.
