<p>1275194 Valves R J J GUICHON 23 July 1970 [30 July 1969] 35865/70 Heading F2V A parallel slide gate valve has means for wedging the gate against an inlet seat 14 both in the open and the closed position with respect to an aligned outlet 4, in order to protect the seat from injurious action of the controlled fluid. The valve is intended particularly for fluids which develop a deposit, such as high temperature cracking gas of petroleums. As shown, the gate 5 and a wedge 10 interposable between the gate and outlet 4, are operated by separate spindles 7, 12. A right-angled port 15 through the gate connects the inlet with a second outlet (17), Fig. 4 (not shown), in the position where the first outlet is isolated. This enables decoking of an installation to be done without interruption. In the position shown, where the second outlet communicates with the inlet, the gate is laterally wedged against this outlet by an additional wedge (18) carried by the gate and co-operating with a wedge surface on the body. Dirt is collected in a removable bar 33 forming part of the valve body 1. The sliding surfaces are cleaned by steam introduced through an inlet 28 and traversing passages 30 and radial grooves 32 in the sliding surfaces.</p> |
