The procedure for the mechanical locking connection of rims to motor vehicles entails the fitting of the rim (1) on the brake disc (5) or brake drum, fitting and locking of a threaded ring (26) onto the brake disc, brake drum or flange (7) of the wheel hub, and the fitting of clamping ring halves (22,23) between a rim-side section of the threaded ring and the rim. Next, a threaded spindle (31) is fitted on the clamping ring halves, and the spindle axes twisted round so that the two clamping ring halves are radially displaced and by interacting with clamping bevels (19) create the necessary wedging action for the fastening of the rim. An Independent claim is included for a central rim clamping device which includes clamping bevels, clamping ring halves, a threaded ring and a threaded spindle.
