PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head of a golf club with low manufacturing cost, which has a reduced weight, an increased volume, and an increased success rate of hitting a ball due to an increased area of preferable hitting points on a hitting face. SOLUTION: This head of the golf club has the hitting face which comprises an alloy steel containing 0.03 wt.% or less carbon, 0.2 wt.% or less silicon, manganese, and phosphorus, 0.02 wt.% or less sulfur, 10.5-11.0 wt.% chromium, 1.8-2.2 wt.% molybdenum, 9.5-10.5 wt% nickel, 0.9-1.2 wt.% titanium, 0.5 wt.% or less aluminum, 0.1 wt.% or less copper, 0.3 wt% or less niobium and boron, 0.01 wt.% or less nitrogen, 0.1 wt.% or less vanadium and tungsten, and the balance substantially iron. The metallurgical process for the alloy steel comprises two-step vacuum-fusion smelting, and the alloy steel has the metal matrix composed mainly of martensite.
|
