PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure stable operation over a long period of time by preventing a slag discharge port from being blocked, by accurately determining the discharge state of slag. SOLUTION: A molten slag is produced by heating and melting an article to be melted in a melting camber 1a; when the molten slag is discharged from a slag discharger port 4 formed in the melting chamber 1a, the molten slag flowing down from the slag discharge port 4 is imaged by a monitoring camera 12; when a plurality of separations or branches are identified at the lower portion of the extracted slag flow in a picked-up image a determined that solidified slag having a possibility of blocking the slag discharge port 4 is made, and a notice is given to a worker or a solidified slag removal means is actuated.
