PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fitting a tube joint capable of minimizing nonuniformity of the fitting quantity of a diameter expanding member into an edge a tube material and preventing the generation of defectives, and a fitting device. SOLUTION: The heated edge T1 of the tube material T is positioned relative to the diameter expanding member 40, and a retaining member 30 for retaining a pull-out prevention ring HL is positioned relative to the diameter expanding member 40. The diameter expanding member 40, the tube material T and the pull-out prevention ring HL are relatively positioned with reference to the diameter expanding member 40. After this relative positioning, the diameter expanding member 40 is fitted into the edge T1 of the tube material T, the fitting quantity is corrected, and the pull-out prevention ring HL is fitted and fixed to the correctly expanded edge T1 of the tube material T.
