PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary device for connecting optical fibers that can improve workability in the case of attaching/detaching optical fibers. SOLUTION: The body 21 of the auxiliary device 20 is provided with a pair of inserting holes 22 into which optical fibers 15 are insertable. In the body 21, a holding member 30 is installed in a displaceable manner between a retaining position for holding the optical fiber 15 and a releasing position for allowing the inserting and drawing of the optical fibers 15 relative to the inserting holes 22. The holding member 30 is constantly pressed to the retaining position by means of an elastic member 35.
