[Also in Division F2] A furnace winch which comprises a shaft 11 carrying a drum 12 and mounted rotatably in bearings 34 is provided with a resilientlymounted heat-insulating thrust ring assembly comprising rings 15 having relatively small areas of surface contact 16-18 and rings having an inner part 21A of high heat conductivity (e.g. of copper) and an outer part 21B of low heat conductivity (e.g. of chrome steel). Insulating spacers 20, 23 of asbestos may be included so as to leave air-gaps 25 between the rings. Heat-dissipating fins 26, 28 may be provided. Cooling fluid may circulate through the hollow shaft. The bearings 34 may be of plastics material. |
