SOLUTION: This method for polyarylene sulfide production is characterized in that in a method in which the polyarylene sulfide is produced from a dihalogenated aromatic compound and a metal sulfide in a polar organic solvent, an acid aqueous solution is not added to a polymerization system after the completion of the polymerization reaction, a polymer phase is separated from a solvent phase in a molten state and the polymer phase is purified.
