PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium for which bleeding of an ink jet ink does not occur and which can be provided with drying property and resistance property. SOLUTION: An ink absorbing layer and an ink fixing layer are provided in the order named on a printing base material. This ink jet recording medium satisfies the conditions of inequality (1): 0<=Xa<Xb, inequalities (2): 1<=Ya<=30, 1<=Yb<=30 and 2<=Ya+Yb<=50, inequality (3): 1×10<-4> <=Xb<=3×10<-3> , inequality (4): 1×10<-3> <=Xb×Yb<=6×10<-2> and inequality (5): 1.5×10<-3> <=Xa×Ya+ Xb×Yb<=1×10<-1> , in which let Xa [mol/g] be the total contents of the anionic group and cationic nitrogen atom (N<+> ) in the ink absorbing layer and let Yb [g/m<2> ] be the spread of the ink fixing layer. |
