PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission, capable of preventing projection of a roller from a track surface of a disk, without providing annular stopper in the disk. SOLUTION: A stopper mechanism for regulating turning of a carriage 8 around an axis thereof within a range, corresponding to the speed change range of the roller 7 is provided inside a hydraulic cylinder 9. This stopper mechanism is formed of a first stopper part 11 for regulating the relative turning between a piston rod 9a and a cylinder case 9b and a second stopper part 12 for regulating the turning range of the carriage 8, in relation to the piston rod 9a.
