PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Mg-Al hydrotalcite powder superior in heat stability, in which the occurrence of zinc burning is controlled and exhibit less initial coloration when blended with a resin containing chlorine and heat molded. SOLUTION: After an alkali solution containing an anion, a magnesium salt solution and an aluminum salt solution are mixed, the mixed solution is aged and then the Mg-Al hydrotalcite core particles are produced. After the magnesium salt solution and the aluminum salt solution are added to an aqueous suspension containing the core particles and aged, the Mg-Al hydrotalcite powders are produced and treated by phosphoric acid adding a phosphate of 0.01-5.00 mol% as P.
