PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method by which a colorful inorganic image can be formed on the surface of a building material such as an artistic tile or a fictile material such as a ceramic material by making good use of electrophotographic technique and a transfer method and using an inexpensive apparatus easily at a low cost without using a plurality of kinds of coloring toner. SOLUTION: This image forming method comprises a step to form an adhesive latent image consisting of an adhesive composition on an image receiving body by the electrophotographic technique, a step to transfer a transfer layer containing an inorganic pigment of a transfer sheet onto the surface of the image receiving body correspondingly to the latent image by bringing the surface of the image receiving layer on the adhesive latent image-formed side into contact with the surface of the transfer layer and heating the contact surfaces and form an inorganic pigment image, a step to arrange the inorganic pigment image on the surface of the fictile material and a step to sinter at least the inorganic pigment image-arranged side of the fictile material.
