PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of displaying a map without using map data stored in a special storage medium for displaying map information based on a present position in a mobile terminal device such as a car navigation terminal constructed movably. SOLUTION: A user side terminal device 703 is provided with a present position specifying means for specifying its own present position and outputs map request information to a map information providing server 700 in the form related to the present position information produced by the present position specifying means. The map information providing server 700 receives the map request information and retrieves and reads map information (map information about a predetermined area including the present position) related to the present potion of the user side terminal device 703 in a request source from a map database. When the read map information is outputted to the user side terminal device 703 in the request source, the map information related to the present position is displayed in the user side terminal device 703.
