PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device that is improved in assembly performance and reduced in cost due to a reduced number of part items and a reduced assembly man-hour. SOLUTION: A shift base 2 holding a shift lever 4 is turnably mounted on a casing 1, and an end 5b of a check spring 5 is elastically engaged with a serrate surface 3a of a click applying part 3 formed on the shift base to generate a click feel at shifting. A raised wall 9 of the casing projectingly has a support shaft 12, a supporting point portion 13 and a temporary fixing portion 19, and a front end of the click applying part has a guide portion 18 with a taper top surface 18c. After a lower end 2a of the shift base is turnably assembled in the casing, when the shift lever is moved to a shift position, the end of the check spring is elastically engaged with the click applying part while slidingly guided by the top surface of the guide portion, and the check spring and the click applying part are assembled together.
