PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel hydrophilic polymer having a silane coupling group terminal which can utilize in an antifogging coating, an exterior antifouling coating or the like. SOLUTION: It comprises the following i) and ii). i) a polymer unit represented by-(CHR<3> -CR<4> (-L<1> -Y<1> ))x -(CHR<5> -CR<6> (-L<2> -Y<2> ))y -, ii) one having the silane coupling group represented by -L<3> -Si(R<1> )m (OR<2> )3-m at the terminal of the polymer, R<1> , R<2> , R<3> , R<4> , R<5> and R<6> are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-8C hydrocarbon group; m is 0, 1 or 2; n is an integer of 1-8; x is a range of 100-1 mol%; y is a range of 0-99 mol%; L<1> , L<2> and L<3> are each independently a single bond or an organic combining group; Y<1> and Y<2> are each independently -N(R<7> )(R<8> ), -OH, -NHCOR<7> , -COR<7> , -CO2 M or -SO3 M wherein R<7> and R<8> are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-8C alkyl group; M is a hydrogen atom, alkali metal, alkaline-earth metal or onium.
