摘要 PURPOSE: A method for optimizing a data filter boost of a read channel in a hard disk drive is provided to optimize the data filter boost of the read channel according to zones on a head and a disk. CONSTITUTION: Registers are initialized(100). A test order of a register value of a data filter boost is set(102). A micro controller moves a head to a track located on the most inner circumference of an initial zone of a disk surface corresponded to a set head(104) and an off-track is set as '0'(106). The micro controller writes test data once as 2T pattern(108). The micro controller loads an initial value of the data filter boost(110) and reads test data(112). The micro controller compares the read data with the written data(114), measures error rate, and temporarily stores the measured error rate in an internal ACC(Accumulator)(116). The micro controller loads the next register value(118) and reads test data again(120). The micro controller measures error rate(122), and compares new measured error rate with the stored error rate in the ACC. If new measured error rate is less than the stored error rate in the ACC, new measured error rate is stored as an ACC value. If the test is completed, the micro controller stores the ACC value in a register. If the test is completed to the last zone, the next head is selected. If the test is completed to the last head, the operation is terminated.
