PURPOSE: A method for detecting the overlapping of a bill is provided to prevent abnormal action in bill counting by minimizing the mechanical dependency and to secure a wide margin depending on the overlapping of bills. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting the overlapping of a bill comprises the steps of detecting a first reference value by minimizing an RVDT(Rotary Variable Differential Transducer) sensor, detecting a second reference value before an emitting bill approaches the RVDT sensor, double amplifying a voltage value depending on the thickness of the bill, converting the first and second reference values and a voltage value depending on the double amplified thickness of bill into digital signals, setting up a final reference value by comparing the first and second reference values, and deciding the overlapping of a bill by comparing the voltage value depending on the thickness of a bill.
