PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton conductor made of a polymer blend, having performances identical to or higher than those of a perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid- type proton conductor, such as high proton-conducting properties and high thermal, chemical stability, without passing through complicated synthesizing processes. SOLUTION: This proton conductor made of the polymer blend is given by mixing at least a proton acid group-containing polymer and a nonconductive polymer having film forming properties. If necessary, a compatible solvent which is compatible with each of the above components is mixed with them. Thus, the highly proton-conducting material can be obtained without using the costly perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid (or perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid).
