PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus capable of shortening the DMA processing time used for processing recording data, and a controlling method therefor. SOLUTION: The processing time is shortened by cutting back the number of vertical-lateral conversion processes of data, executed at the time of transmitting recording data to a recording head.
