PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink for ink jet recording which, when contained in an ink-holding container having an ink absorbent made of a polyurethane foam, exhibits delivery characteristics not malinfluenced by water-insoluble substances, such as unreacted substances, eluted out of the ink absorbent. SOLUTION: The ink is contained in an ink-holding container having an ink absorbent made of a polyurethane foam and at least contains a colorant, a water-soluble organic solvent, water, and an amphiphatic substance which has an affinity for both water and the water-insoluble substances eluted out of the ink absorbent and contributes to stably dissolve and/or disperse the water-insoluble substances in the ink. |
