The support column has a tubular component (7) fastened inside a hollow component (2) and which in its lower section (8) is mounted in a bracket (16) fastened to the profiled shell (5) of the hollow component. The bracket has two walls (18,19) spaced apart and extending at right angles to the tube's longitudinal direction. The walls each have an opening in which is fitted the lower section of the tubular component and by which the hollow component is fastened to the bracket. Independent claims are included for a procedure for the construction of a support column for the body framework of especially a private motor vehicle, and for a bracket for a support column.
