An electrolyte is disclosed, containing as a solvent at least one compound selected from a compound represented by formula (I) and a compound represented by formula (II); and a photoelectric conversion device comprising the electrolyte, a semiconductor, an electrically conductive substrate and a counter electrode; and a photo-chemical cell comprising the photoelectric conversion device are disclosed.
