PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magenta ink having a high plain paper chroma and a decreased moisture bleed/hue shift. SOLUTION: The magenta ink contains (a) a dye compound represented by the structural formula (wherein Q is a cation) and (b) a medium comprising water alone or a mixture of water with an organic solvent.
