PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a low density polyester facilitating easy separation from other resins in a recycling process. SOLUTION: This polyester comprises terephthalic acid as the principal dicarboxylic acid component and a compound expressed by chemical formula (1) as the principal diol component, where the polyester has a glass transition temperature of 50 deg.C or higher and a density of 1.10 to 1.19 g/cm<3> .
