PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition useful for reduction of a frictional loss of an internal combustion engine and for improvement of a fuel- efficient property, especially the lubricating oil composition for the internal combustion engine excellent in an effect on frictional reduction in a diesel engine with EGR increasing a suit quantity in an oil. SOLUTION: This lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine comprises blending not less than 1 wt.% of a nonion surfactant mixed with an alkylene oxide in a base oil of a lubricating oil comprising a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil or the like, based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition containing at least one compound having not less than 15 of an HLB value and not less than 900 of molecular weight, and a method of frictional reduction for the internal combustion engine using the lubricating oil composition is provided.
