PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely run in an automatic cruise system. SOLUTION: After a set inter-vehicle distance SK is accessed (Step 200), in Step 210, an inter-vehicle distance SA is computed. In Step 220, a vehicle speed control signal is output to an automatic cruise ECU 60 to approximate the inter-vehicle distance SA to the set inter-vehicle distance SK, so that the automatic cruise ECU 60 controls an engine 100 and an automatic transmission 110 according to the vehicle speed control signal. The engine 100 and the automatic transmission 110 are thus driven to maintain the set inter-vehicle distance SK to the preceding vehicle. If Step 230 determines that a hands-free call is on, in Step 240, the set inter-vehicle distance SK is updated. The set inter-vehicle distance SK after the update is longer than the set inter-vehicle distance SK before the update by a given distanceΔB.
