PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and method which enables running after abnormality of a sensor without deteriorating an exhaust characteristic, operation characteristic, etc. SOLUTION: This control device and method comprise an abnormality detecting means 2 judging an output signal of a first sensor 1 for whether it is abnormal or normal, a first arithmetic means 3 calculating a control value driving a first actuator 5 by using the output signal of the first sensor 1 at normal time, a second arithmetic means 7 for calculating a control value driving a second actuator 8 by using an output signal of a second sensor 6, a third arithmetic means 9 calculating a control value driving the first actuator 5 by using the output signal of the second sensor 6, and a switching means 4 switching from the first arithmetic means 3 to the third arithmetic means 9 to drive the actuator 5 in the case of deciding abnormality in the abnormality detecting means 2. Accordingly, running after abnormality of the sensor can be made without deteriorating an exhaust characteristic, operation characteristic, etc.
