PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass composition for a compact, fluorescent electric lamp having a high luminance, without coloring by UV nor UV leakage out of a tube. SOLUTION: The glass composition is characterized in that it has a SiO2 -Al2 O3 -R2 O-R'O based composition, and a CeO2 content is 0.2-2 mass% and a SO3 content is 0-0.18 mass%, and is molten in oxidizing atmosphere.
