HARDENABLE RESIN AND ITS PRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel hardenable resin which can control the content of a radical polymerizable group such as an alicyclic group which contributes to heat resistance and strength, an alkali-soluble group and a (meth)acryloyl group which contributes to the harden ability or the like. SOLUTION: The resin comprises an alicyclic hydrocarbon group-containing copolymer having a molecular structure in which the constituent units having the pendant structures equipped with each of a specific alicyclic hydrocarbon group, an acid functional group and the radical polymerizable group are linked. A coating composition contains the resin. The composition is coated to a substrate and subjected to the selective exposure using a photomask or the like and the photohardening. The composition is very suitable for forming a colored layer, protective layer and pillar spacer of a color filter.
