PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a light shielding film which is thin and has a satisfactory light shielding ratio at a non-lighting part at low cost, in a reflection type liquid crystal display element of a segment display form utilizing a chiral nematic liquid crystal. SOLUTION: In the reflection type liquid crystal display element which includes a lighting part A and a non-lighting part B and wherein the chiral nematic liquid crystal is used as a liquid crystal L, the light shielding film 12 is formed at the non-lighting part B and the chiral nematic liquid crystal L is previously set in a planar state at the non-lighting part, the light shielding film 12 is formed by using an ink material showing a high absorption ratio to the selective reflection light of the chiral nematic liquid crystal L. |
