PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of obtaining seven or more of forward gear ratios which are separated appropriately from each other using a simple structure. SOLUTION: A reduction dual epicyclic gear device is formed of a small diameter and a large diameter sun gears, a common carrier for supporting a stepped pinion formed of a large diameter and a small diameter pinions to be engaged with the small diameter and the large diameter sun gears, and a common ring gear to be engaged with the large pinion; the common ring gear is connected to an input shaft, and revolution of the small diameter and the large diameter sun gears are selectively regulated by a first and a second brakes, to generate the first revolution at the revolving speed smaller than that of the revolution of the input shaft and the second revolution at the revolving speed which is smaller than that of the first revolution in a carrier; and the first and the second revolution are transmitted to a first element of the reduction dual epicyclic gear device, and the revolution of the input shaft is selectively transmitted to a second element through a second clutch.
