PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical governor, while preventing the lowering of the speed control performance by the governor by reducing wear of the contact part by the side of a slide axis and a governor lever, the durability of governor composition parts is improved. SOLUTION: In the mechanical governor, it is constituted so that a governor lever might be made to rock and the volume of movements of a control rack can be changed by detecting variation of engine number of rotations and making a slide axis move reciprocatively by flyweight, either the middle part of a governor lever, or the axial end of a slide axis, it comprises a wear-resistant material, and on the ends part of partner contact, the strike-contact possible thrust plate and the thrust plate, the thrust from the slide axis receive by the thrust bearing via the thrust plate which is thus constituted so.
