PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved connection between an optical fiber and a support as well as a method for producing such a connection. SOLUTION: An optical module includes a support T on which an optical fiber F is mounted. On the support T, there is introduced a V-groove VG that functions only for the purpose of fixing the optical fiber F. To the groove VG, there is attached a strip-shaped contact layer CL at right angles. The optical fiber F is pressurized into the groove VG, at which time the contact layer CL forms a mechanical joint with the optical fiber F in the form of press- contact. This functions suitably in the case of glass optical fibers having a contact layer composed of aluminum Al. The contact layer CL is desirably structured with a plurality of narrow strips extending perpendicularly to the groove VG.
