PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the simulation method of a liquid crystal element highly accurately reproducing the characteristics of an actual liquid crystal element regardless of the volume resistivity of liquid crystal and the other dielectric. SOLUTION: The volume resistivity of the liquid crystal and the other dielectric is taken into consideration and simulation calculation is performed. To put it concretely, a potential is calculated so as to minimize a prescribed functional X within a calculation area. Also, in the case that a voltage applied to an electrode changes with time, simulation for which the change of time is taken into consideration as well is performed.
