PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise of a hydraulic shock absorber. SOLUTION: An annularly formed shock absorbing rubber 18-22 are fixed to an outer periphery in a center of a cylinder 12 of a hydraulic shock absorber 10. Those shock absorbing rubber parts 18-22 are elastic and sound insulating materials 24-27 made of glass and wool, etc., are wound around between each shock absorbing material 18-22. In the periphery of the shock absorbing material 18-22, a cylindrical case 30 which one pair of cylinder covers 28, 29 are connected in the way to cover the sound absorbing materials 24-27 is fitted. As the periphery of a cylinder 12 is covered by the sound absorbing materials 24-27 and the periphery of the sound absorbing materials 24-27 are covered by a cylindrical case 30 at once, working noise caused by relative movement of the piston and the cylinder is absorbed and leakage of the sound to outside can be protected.
