PURPOSE: Provided are an anode for secondary battery which substantially increases the battery capacity in the region of actual use of the battery, while maintaining a high charge and discharge efficiency and a good cycle characteristic, and a secondary battery using the same. CONSTITUTION: The anode for secondary battery capable of occluding and releasing a lithium ion, is characterized by comprising a multi-layer structure including a first layer(2a) made of mainly carbon and a second layer(3a) made of mainly a membrane-shaped lithium occluding material that occludes lithium more than the theoretical capacity of lithium occlusion of carbon. The membrane-shaped lithium occluding material is selected from a group of Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, and an oxide thereof. |
