PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dense, high thermal conductivity composite material which has high mechanical properties, particularly, in toughness, and has reliability even in an environment in which a heat cycle or vibration is applied. SOLUTION: The sintered composite material has high thermal conductivity 160 to 350 W/m.K and thermal expandability coefficient 6×10<-6> to 14×10<-6> /K. The composite material is obtained by subjecting the raw material particles having a fundamental composition 30 to 80 vol.% of high thermal conductivity metallic particles of the average particle size 1 to 50 μm and the balance AlN or Si3 N4 of the average particle size 1 to 100 μm to HIP or hot press sintering under the pressure of >=10 atmospheric pressure. |
