PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulking agent capable of imparting excellent bulkiness, softness and strength to fibers. SOLUTION: This bulking agent is characterized in that an amino compound contains at least two acetal groups represented by the following formula X (wherein, R1 and R2 denote each independently a 1-6C alkyl group or a 2-6C alkylene group in which R1 and R2 are linked; and R3 denotes hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group, with the proviso that the alkyl group and alkylene group may be substituted with a lower alkyl group) in the bulking agent comprising the amino compound having the acetal groups bound to amino group as an active component.
