PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating agent for treating the surface of an automobile which increases the stability when diluted without losing water repellency, and neither clogs a piping, and the like, nor generates blotches. SOLUTION: This novel coating agent comprises an emulsified product of an amide derivative obtained by partial amidation of the amino groups of an amino-modified silicone oil, particularly the amide derivative obtained by the amidation of 5-70% amino groups of the amino-modified silicone oil with a 1-20C fatty acid or its derivative being preferred. Further, a superior effect can be obtained by adding a polyether-modified silicone oil and/or a polymeric nonionic surface active agent to an amino-modified silicone oil or the emulsified product of an amide derivative of an amino-modified silicone oil obtained by partial amidation of the amino groups of the amino-modified silicone oil.
