PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardenable emulsion capable of forming a film in which the characteristics of the film after hardening by the sunlight are maintained and further the water resistance and the stain resistance, when the film has not fully been exposed to the sunlight or before it is exposed to the sunlight, are improved. SOLUTION: The emulsion is obtained by dispersing, in an aqueous medium, a copolymer having as a constituent monomer unit (A) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a maleimide group, (B) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a hydrolyzable silyl group and (C) other ethylenically unsaturated monomer.
